Back in the eighties it seemed as if every other car had a windsurfer strapped to the roof and every pond, lake and stretch of coastline was decorated with an array of brightly coloured triangular sails. Since then the sport has taken a lower profile, but all that is beginning to change. Modern design and manufacturing techniques have resulted in equipment that is far easier to learn on, and today’s participants are taking the sport in directions only dreamed of by the original pioneers. It's therefore not surprising that windsurfing is experiencing a worldwide renaissance.
